Tornado in a Jar
Try this fun activity to teach your child more about tornados!
Materials:
glass jar
food coloring
dish soap
water
vinegar
Directions:
1. Fill your jar 3/4 of the way full with water
2. Add a teaspoon of dish soap
3. Add a teaspoon of vinegar
4. Add a 3-5 drops of food coloring
5. Add a little bit of glitter if you have some!
6. Put the lid on the jar and move it in a circular motion, you will see the tornado start to form!
*Note: It took me a few times to be able to see the tornado clearly. You can experiment with your kids on how adding more dish soap or less dish soap affects the tornado! Also, putting your jar near a window or a light will help you to see the tornado more clearly.
