Grow a Plant

There are so many fun activities that you can do to teach your child about plants. Grow a plant with your child and explore!

Materials:

  • glass jar

  • water

  • sunlight

  • soil  

  • seeds (can use any kind- here are some options: option 1, option 2  

**Note: radish seeds and beans grow the fastest 

Instructions:

1. Take a glass mason jar and fill it 3/4 full with soil

2. Sprinkle seeds of your choice across the top layer of soil

3. Use your fingers to press the seeds into the soil 

4. Water the soil (but not too much!) If you have a spray bottle you can spray the soil with water until the soil is moist

5. Place your jar in front of a window

6. Water your plan each day

7. Your seeds should start to sprout within 48 hours

8. Try the science activities below with your kids while they are watching their plant grow!
